The Hudson Valley Resort & Spa | This newly renovated hotel is located in Kerhonkson, New York, which is approximately 90 minutes from NYC (and in between New Paltz & Ellenville, for those of you familiar with the area). All of the wedding events will be held at the hotel. The hotel has an indoor/outdoor pool, full service spa & health club, 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, miniature golf course, basketball courts, and many other fun activities to do. There are also fantastic opportunities for hiking and rock climbing. So . . . feel free to bring your golf clubs, tennis rackets, swimsuits and hiking boots! Shabbat We know it may be difficult for some of our guests to arrive in time for Shabbat, however we are looking forward to celebrating Shabbat with those family and friends who are able to join us. We will usher in Shabbat with a Friday night Shabbat dinner followed by singing. On Saturday, some of Alysa's classmates will lead Shabbat morning services, which will include an Auf Ruf. The Auf Ruf ceremony is a unique occasion to honor the groom and bride at services. The word "Auf Ruf" (derived from the German) refers to the "calling up" of the groom-to-be and bride-to-be to the Torah for an aliyah. At this time, the rabbi blesses the couple in honor of their forthcoming marriage. Sometimes family and friends throw candy as a gesture of well-wishing and sweetness. We will conclude Shabbat with Havdalah and singing in the early evening. |
